Hunter.io
Email finder and verification tool for discovering professional email addresses by domain.
How we use and teach Hunter in the community
What it is, in plain English
Hunter markets an all-in-one email outreach stack: search companies and contacts, run domain search and single-person email finder workflows, verify addresses to protect reputation, and optionally send personalized sequences from your own Gmail, Google Workspace, or Outlook.
They also pitch a B2B database, browser extension for pulling emails from sites you visit, native CRM connectors, Zapier, APIs, and a data platform for higher volume or programmatic use.
How we use it on real work
Many of us still use Hunter primarily as find plus verify, then export to Instantly, Smartlead, or HeyReach for actual campaigns. Sequences inside Hunter are real; choose deliberately so you do not maintain two conflicting send engines.
- Credit discipline: separate “found” from “verified” before you load a sequencer.
- Domain search when you already have accounts; email finder when you have names from events or LinkedIn exports.
- If you send from Hunter, keep DNS and mailbox health aligned with what your IT or infra vendor expects.
- For API or Hunter at Scale, define who owns pagination, dedupe, and compliance logging before engineers wire jobs.
How we teach it in the community
We teach verification as a habit, not a checkbox. Beginners practice domain search on a short account list; advanced users compare API responses to UI results for the same query.
- Exercise: take ten companies, compare Domain Search vs manual guessing, log bounce risk before any send.
- Walk through extension workflow on a real prospecting session so Chrome habits stick.
- If sequences are used, review personalization tokens and daily caps like any other sequencer.
Good fit, and when we’d pick something else
Hunter fits teams that want reputable email discovery and verification, with optional lightweight sending or programmatic access. Deep multichannel orchestration usually sits in other tools.
- Good when: you need fast domain and person lookup with verification before loading another system.
- Good when: outbound is mostly email and sending from Workspace or Outlook is acceptable to the client.
- Skip or lighten up when: you need LinkedIn-native automation (pair Hunter with a LinkedIn sequencer, not instead of one if that is the mandate).
- Skip when: the buyer already pays for a full data platform and only needs a thin verification API (compare cost and overlap).
