    Make

Visual automation platform for connecting apps and building workflows without code.

How we use and teach Make in the community

What it is, in plain English

Make (formerly Integromat) is a visual-first automation platform that now leans into AI agents and orchestration. The homepage emphasizes building and watching flows in real time, scaling from simple scenarios to larger maps across teams.

It advertises thousands of pre-built app integrations, AI app coverage, enterprise collaboration and security (including SOC 2 Type II and GDPR mentions), and vertical solution pages for sales, marketing, IT, and other functions.

How we use it on real work

We use Make when Zapier-style triggers are not enough and we want richer branching, data transforms, and visual debugging for sequencer and CRM sync.

    • Label scenarios by business process so ops can find owners quickly.
    • Use error handlers and incomplete execution checks on critical paths.
    • Avoid duplicate record creation when both Make and a native sync run.
    • Budget operations time; powerful graphs need ongoing maintenance.

How we teach it in the community

Beginners rebuild one Zapier flow in Make to learn routers and filters. Advanced students add AI modules with guardrails.

    • Exercise: same lead webhook, compare operations time in Make versus n8n.
    • Discuss scenario complexity limits for handoff to engineering.
    • Workshop: monitoring and alerting patterns for failed bundles.

Good fit, and when we’d pick something else

Make fits teams that want powerful no-code automation with a visual ops map.

    • Good when: marketing and ops can own flows without waiting on eng.
    • Good when: you need richer logic than basic trigger or action pairs.
    • Skip when: you already standardized on another iPaaS org-wide.
    • Skip when: only engineers will touch automation and n8n is available.
