    People Data Labs

Developer-first B2B data API with extensive person and company datasets for enrichment.

How we use and teach People Data Labs in the community

What it is, in plain English

People Data Labs (PDL) sells workforce and firmographic datasets for builders: person and company records, job posting data in beta, and delivery through APIs, licensed feeds, and cloud marketplaces such as Snowflake and Databricks. Positioning is “we build the data so you don’t have to,” aimed at platforms and large operators who embed enrichment, search, and analytics into their own products.

Security pages cite ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2. Use-case pages split HR tech, sales and marketing, and investment research.

How we use it on real work

We treat PDL as infrastructure: engineering owns schema, pagination, and cost; GTM owns which attributes become outreach-eligible.

    • Separate dev and prod keys; rotate on any accidental leak.
    • Field allow lists prevent reps from exporting sensitive attributes they should not email against.
    • Warehouse copies need row-level governance like any other PII store.
    • Match tests against a golden sample before swapping providers in production.

How we teach it in the community

Beginners read the docs and run sample enrichment on 50 records. Advanced students design a small internal API facade so apps do not call PDL directly from ten places.

    • Exercise: implement one enrichment endpoint with retries and idempotency.
    • Discuss acceptable use and retention policies from the vendor terms.
    • Compare API versus warehouse share for your analytics team’s latency needs.

Good fit, and when we’d pick something else

PDL fits product and data teams building custom GTM systems or enrichment inside apps. Small teams that only need a Chrome extension on LinkedIn should look at lighter tools first.

    • Good when: you need scalable person and company data inside your own software.
    • Good when: Snowflake or Databricks is already your analysis hub.
    • Skip when: no engineer will maintain the integration.
    • Skip when: you only need occasional manual lookups, not bulk API.
